Emma Courtney, Legal Director, Sun Microsystems UK
Emma leads a team of legal specialists who provide suite of legal services to all functions within Sun. Emma joined Sun in February 2005 and is responsible for legal aspects of Sun's customer facing functions, both direct and via partners, within the region.
Emma graduated as a Bachelor of Law from the University of Birmingham and passed her professional solicitors exams at Guildford College of Law. She also holds a Diplome d'Etudes Juridiques Francaises from the Universite de Limoges in France.
Before joining Sun, Emma spent nine years in the UK legal department for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where she supported the negotiation of major customer projects in sectors including financial services, engineering, leisure and government.
Prior to EDS she worked with Microsoft as UK legal counsel supporting all aspects of the business including licensing and channel programs. She also worked on early implementations of its support services and anti-piracy programs in the UK.
Emma's areas of expertise cover all legal aspects of Sun's businesses.
