Solutions in Action: Sun's Revamped Executive Briefing Centre

Kim JonesSince joining Sun's U.K. and Ireland operations in mid 2007 as president and managing director, I've been especially impressed with the collaborative relationships that Sun has with our customers and partners in the region. It's clear that our two-way dialogue is paying off by enabling us to zero in on customer needs with solutions that tackle real-world IT and business challenges.

To build on those relationships, look for this column in future issues of the Sun Inner Circle newsletter. I'll be using it to highlight what we're hearing from customers, emerging Sun technologies, and events and other developments of interest to the U.K. and Ireland community.

One great example of customer collaboration is Sun's Executive Business Centre (EBC) in Linlithgow. We're now making substantial investments in this impressive facility to improve its offerings even further. What does this mean for you — our customers and partners in the U.K. and Ireland?

The Scottish centre is one of three Sun EBCs worldwide and is the largest physical laboratory Sun has in Europe. The business centre gives customers in-person access to Sun executives, technologies, and expertise under one roof. It's a terrific way to see innovation in action and experience first-hand how Sun technologies can dramatically transform your business.

Customizing Solutions to Meet Unique Customer Needs
When you visit the EBC, we can help demonstrate how your solution can be designed and implemented smoothly and without interruption to your business. Solutions are customized to your unique needs and preconfigured and tested at our customer ready-centre, ready for shipment to customer sites.

Our EBC provides an environment designed to solve integration and interoperability challenges across multivendor solutions. This includes development and facilities for new configurations, including third-party products.

The centre also helps you reduce risk and time to market by allowing you to touch and feel a new solution and assess how it will perform in your environment. It also offers remote monitoring of your solution, active at a location of your choice, to help ensure that the solution performs at the highest level. The Linlithgow facility responds to the service and solution needs of customers worldwide.

I encourage you to visit the EBC and explore the latest network computing infrastructure solutions that Sun can provide. By using technical expertise and powerful technology, we can help you increase marketshare and generate business results.

In the meantime, I wish you a happy and prosperous 2008!
