Rack Mounted 1U LCD Monitor and Keyboard

The rack mounted LCD Monitor and Keyboard is a 1U high pull out tray equipped with a high resolution 17" LCD monitor and a Sun USB interface keyboard with built-in trackball. The unit is designed to fit in a Sun 19" rack and to be slid out for use. It prevents the need for an external table top monitor and allows efficient use of space within the rack.

The unit connects to a frame buffer installed in the server, prevents the need for an external monitor and keyboard, and allows efficient use of space within the rack. The 1U LCD Monitor and Keyboard can connect to a single server within the rack. When used in conjunction with a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch, multiple servers can be controlled from one monitor and keyboard.

This unit was designed around military standards and because of the high quality metal construction, this unit can be used in almost all industrial and commercial settings. Current deployments consist of network rooms, telcom racks, military transport cases, military airplanes-ships-land vehicles.

Frame Buffer Compatibility:

The 1U Monitor and keyboard is compatible with all Sun systems equipped with the following frame buffers:

• XVR-100, XVR-500, XVR-1000
• PGX, PGX32, PGX64
• Expert3D, Expert3D-Lite
• Creator, Creator3D

• Integrated ATI Rage XL

Server Compatibility:

The 1U Monitor is compatible with all USB keyboard interface servers such as the Sun Blade and Sun Fire servers (when fitted with one of the above frame buffers).

This unit is not compatible with Netra Servers that require a RS232 console device.

Configuration:

Normally no host configuration is required. If the LCD monitor is powered on and connected to the system when the system is booted, it will automatically be configured to 1280x1024 resolution at 60Hz (if a non-default resolution was programmed into the system previously, this should be disabled prior to connecting the LCD monitor). With some older (series 1) Creator and Creator3D frame buffers, 1152x900 resolution will be used since 1280x1024 at 60 Hz is not supported by these frame buffers. If using some types of KVM, manual resolution configuration may be required to preserve optimum display quality.
