The Automatic Power Transfer Switch allows servers and other equipment with three power supplies in an N+1 redundant configuration (such as the V880/V890) to be connected to two supply power grids without losing availability in the event of either one of the two power grids failing. The switch is supported in the Sun StorEdge 72" and 900/1000 racks.
Features:
- Allows equipment with three power supplies (in a N+1 redundant configuration) to be powered by two utility power grids and survive the failure of one of the grids
- Can be used to provide a resilient power source for devices with a single power supply
- 1U rack mounted
- Can be used with both StorEdge 72" and Sun Rack 900/1000 cabinets
- Ideal for V880 and V890 servers
- Two 16A IEC C20 power inputs for connection to two incoming power grids
- One IEC C19 and eight IEC C13 outputs, maximum total load 16A
- Fast switching time prevents server interruption during switchover
- Includes two IEC C19 to C20 input power cords for use with StorEdge rack
- Overload protection (circuit breaker trip guards included)
- Supports out-of-phase inputs
- Front panel status LEDs
- Includes rackmount kit and cable management bracket
- Includes engineer on-site installation (UK mainland, normal working hours)
- RoHS compliant
Product Details:
Systems with three power supplies in a N+1 redundant configuration (such as the V880/V890) are designed to continue operating after one power supply fails. If this failure is caused by a utility power failure, then each power supply must be connected to a different power grid for the server to survive. However, in many cases only two utility power grids are available. In this instance two of the power supplies must be connected to a single power grid, resulting in system failure if this particular power grid fails.
The Automatic Power Transfer Switch is designed to overcome this limitation.
The device can be mounted in 1U of rack space, has two power inputs (primary and secondary) and up to nine power outputs. The power inputs are connected to two independent utility power grids (which can be on different phases), whilst the output is connected to the equipment being supported.
Under normal operation all the outputs are supplied from the primary power input. If the primary power grid fails, the device switches the outputs to be supplied by the secondary power input. Fast switching time (<30mS) allows the supported system(s) to continue without interruption.
The product includes 12 months Return to Depot Warranty. Optional on site maintenance is available (not included with server maintenance).
StorEdge 72" Cabinet Installation:
Power Grid 1 -(1)-> Rack Sequencer 1 -(2)-> V8x0 PSU 1
|
+--(3)--> A
T -(4)-> V8x0 PSU 2
+--(3)--> S
|
Power Grid 2 -(1)-> Rack Sequencer 2 -(2)-> V8x0 PSU 3
(1) European rack power cord X3859A (two required, to be ordered separately)
(2) Provided within the 72" StorEdge rack
(3) IEC C19 to C20 cables provided with the Automatic Power Transfer Switch
(4) IEC C13 to C14 provided with the V880/V890 rack kit (X)9628A
Notes:
- Up to two V880/V890 servers may be connected to one Automatic Power Transfer Switch when configured as above.
- The standard StorEdge 72" rack sequencers are used to distribute the power to both the Automatic Power Transfer Switch and directly to two power supplies in the V880/V890(s).
- It is expected that the Transfer Switch will be located in the lower half of the rack. Should the Transfer
Switch need to be located in the top of the rack, order 1 off UKT-R1U-ATS-XKIT to accompany it.
Sun Rack 900/1000 Installation:
Power Grid 1 --(1)--> A --(2)--> V8x0 PSU 1
T --(2)--> V8x0 PSU 2
Power Grid 2 --(1)--> S --(2)--> V8x0 PSU 3
(1) Input power cord kit X6829A (four cords per kit, to be ordered separately)
(2) IEC C13 to C14 provided with the V880/V890 rack kit (X)9638A
Notes:
- Input cables are provided by option X6829A – not included (two of the four cables delivered by this option are required per ATS).
- The supply power requirement will be 2x IEC309 16A sockets per ATS.
- The Sun Rack 900/1000 Power Distribution System is not required or used for the V880/V890 power connection.
- This configuration may be doubled when two V880/V890 servers are to be installed in one Sun Rack (using 2 Automatic Power Transfer Switchs).
- One Sun Rack Power Distribution System and one Automatic Power Transfer Switch may be installed when only one V880/V890 is present.
- It is expected that the Transfer Switch will be located in the lower half of the rack. Should the Transfer Switch need to be located in the top of the rack, order 1 off UKT-R1U-ATS-XKIT to accompany it.
