Sun Ray Laptop (Ultra Thin Client)

The Sun Ray Ultra Thin Client Laptop products augment Sun's Sun Ray Thin Client solution.
The product offers Wireless or Ethernet connectivity to the Sun Ray Server and utilises the ISO-7816 Smart card to access the user's account and applications. Unlike other Ultra Thin Client products, the Sun Ray Laptop does not have any disk or embedded Operating System, it connects directly to the Sun Ray Server on power on via Ethernet or Wireless connection. Once connected, the keystrokes and mouse movements are transmitted to the Sun Ray Server and the resulting changes in display are transmitted back tot he Sun Ray laptop. All administration is carried out at the Sun Ray Server without the need to do anything to the Laptops, reducing the administrative burden.

Server Compatibility:

The Sun Ray Laptop requires a Sun Ray Server to download its operating system and applications from.

Software Compatibility:

Sun Ray Server 3.0 or later running on SPARC or x86 servers. Sun Ray Server Software: Authentication Manager, Session Manager, Group Manager and Administration Tools.
