Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Q. Can we sleep on board the night before the event?
A. This is possible at no extra cost but one person from your crew must be at Port Hamble to meet the skipper by 8pm on the 8th July. We would suggest no more than 5 per yacht but we may be able to spread your team across a number of boats depending on demand. Please call Mike Rimmer at Rampage on 07831301609.

Q. Is parking a problem?
A. Parking is never easy at Hamble. There is room for 50 cars at the RAFYC where the Sun Sail marquee is located and cars will be double parked. Once full, park at Port Hamble Marina from which you can just as easily access the Sun Sail marquee from the pontoons in front of the Square Rigger pub. If you have valuables/PC's that you do not wish to leave in the car please bring them to the registration desk in the Sun Sail marquee.

Q. Can we get a shower after racing?
A. The shower block at Port Hamble Marina may be used and is accessed by a pin number which will be obtainable at Registration.

Q. What time will I get away?
A. The longer you stay the more fun we will have, but if you need to get off we expect the prizegiving to take place at around 19:00.

Q. What if I have never sailed before?
A. Most of the crew members are novices so you are in "the same boat". If this is your first Sun Sail, the emphasis is on fun racing in the water and fun socialising at the bar.

What if the forecast is terrible for 9th July 2009?
A. Too much wind or too little wind is never that helpful but whatever the weather we assure you of a highly memorable day. There is normally a more sheltered area we can sail in or await the sea breeze!

Q. Can I bring a colleague?
A. The event is by invitation only. We allocate up to seven crew per boat so numbers have to be very specific.

Q. What if I end up running late on the day?
A. Call either your Sun Host or Carol Brown on 07966959546. It is very helpful to know as we allocate the boats on the morning of the event. If you are really late we can arrange to pick you up at Port Hamble once a rib on the water is free and can return for you.

Q. Can I be contacted during the day?
A. You can be contacted on the above emergency number or the following mobiles:
Carol Brown 07966 959546
Mike Rimmer 07831 301609

Q. Am I covered by insurance?
A. The yachts are covered for Public Liability Insurance by Sun Sail. Attendees should ensure they are happy with their own personal personal accident cover.
