Storage Management Fundamentals (SSMC) (TK-2060)

Storage Management Fundamentals (SSMC) (TK-2060)

The Storage Management Fundamentals course provides students with an introduction to the way OS/390 architecture mainframes store data on DASD. Students learn the different ways data can be categorized and how to fit the category of data to the correct physical device. Students also understand volume pooling in the non-SMS and the SMS environment, and build the knowledge to determine the exact requirements of implementing Storage Management Subsystems (SMS) in one's own shop. Students will learn why dataset naming standards are key to SMS, and whether you need to change or establish DASD pooling to implement SMS.
